Within our very nature is a wellspring of desire to give. For many, giving is intertwined with professional identities as helpers, teachers, and caretakers. Others donate their time, skills, and sweat to the ventures that touch their hearts.
Regardless of how giving happens, it is never wrong. I mention this because many of us find ourselves giving to the extent we become depleted. This depletion can be misinterpreted as a sign that others lack appreciation for what we offer them. How dare them!! But really, take a moment to look in the mirror and find the finger is pointing back at you.
Many givers fail to RECEIVE from others.
Receiving the “givingness” of others, can be as simple as accepting the kind words of a friend, a warm hug from a loved one, or a juicy stinky lick from our furry friends who love us unconditionally. Part of Authentic Expansion is creating a balance with giving and receiving.
For as we practice truly receiving all the good that is present, inevitably there is that much more to give!
